What Does Mobile Optimized Mean

If you’re an entrepreneur, you already know that owning a website is not enough. Simply having it there, somewhere in the vastness of the internet doesn’t mean that people will actually visit it. You also need to reach out to your customers. One way through which you can ensure this is by having a mobile optimized website. Here are a few reasons why you should get one right now.

But what does it mean to optimize your website for mobile devices? Three terms need to be defined: mobile friendly, mobile optimized and mobile responsive. A mobile friendly website is a site that retains its structure and layout, regardless of the device on which it is being viewed. A mobile optimized site is a far more advanced website. Mobile optimized means that the site will reformat itself for a list of handheld or tablet devices. Larger navigation buttons, reformatted content, and differently optimized images appear when the user is on an iPhone or other device.

1. Google Will Prioritize You

In 2015, Google changed its algorithm yet again. This time, it involved mobile websites. Simply put, it announced that it would prioritize mobile-friendly websites in searches as opposed to websites which do not have a mobile-ready version.

2. Mobile Devices Are the Norm Now

You already know this. People all over the planet virtually depend on their mobile devices. Phones come first. Without them people feel lost. Then come tables and the rest. Therefore, why would you risk still owning a website that does not display well on a mobile device and which individuals will not be able to use?

3. Your Business Will Become Modern and Relevant

What

When a user or customer comes across a website which does not have a mobile version, he or she will immediately believe that your business is antiquated. Yes, it’s harsh, but it’s the reality. More than that, they will immediately close the website and move on to your competition which was smart enough to develop newer versions of the site.

4. Google Would Like You to Do So

We’re back to everyone’s best friend, Google. All webmasters are aware of the fact that, when Google recommends that you should do something as far as your website is concerned, then you’d better do it. It’s in your best interest. It’s the same for a mobile optimized website. Here is Google explaining themselves why you should make the change, in case you haven’t already. The main reason they give? Everyone has a smartphone now, which they are using to make searches on a constant basis.

5. You Will Gain a Better Reputation

We have to say that this doesn’t just apply to the online world, but to the offline as well. You can rest assured that people tend to notice and remember very well the websites they had a fantastic experience with and the ones that left them frustrated and, sometimes, even angry. They will not hold back from criticizing you online, giving you bad reviews, not recommending you to others, and evidently, never returning to your website again. It is inconceivable to a person living in this day and age that they shouldn’t be able to make a reservation or buy tickets using their mobile phone because the website was antiquated.

Here are five of the most important reasons for having a mobile optimized website. As you can see, the conclusion is that the two entities you should be thinking of are your customers and Google. If you manage to please them both, you are golden. Let us know in the comment section below how you feel about a new mobile website.
